CfP: Medieval art in the Alps. Painting, sculpture and architecture between the 14th and 15th centuries

Call for papers
Valle Camonica Historical and Anthropological Society (SSAValCam) organizes the 10th edition of the international I.S.T.A. conference  (I.S.T.A. : Meetings for the Study of the Alpine Territories). The topic is: «Medieval art in the Alps. Painting, sculpture and architecture between the 14th and 15th centuries». The meeting will be held in Breno (BS-Italy) in October 2020* (* In compliance with health regulations). It is possible to send a proposal through the attached abstract form. A maximum of 5 papers will be selected to be presented at the conference. Further papers will be evaluated to be published in the conference  proceedings. The organization could be able to activate a poster session to give visibility to a greater number of proposals. In consideration of the breadth and heterogeneity of the theme, the organization, after the examination of the abstracts, could limit the chronological span or the area of interest  of the project. Guidelines • Period of interest: Medieval age (14th and 15th centuries). • Area of interest: European Alps (mountain areas). • Subject: examination of a single significant, coherent and well-defined case (eg. a work of art, an artist, pictorial cycles, a church, a recurring theme...). • Excluding: castles and fortifications, miniatures and manuscripts, liturgical furnishings and vestments. Languages: Italian and English Deadline: 30th June 2020 Paper: Submission by 30th January 2021 (20.000-35.000 characters).
