The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Fribourg (Schweiz) seeks to appoint
Professor "open rank" in Early Modern History
The successful candidate will have a doctorate in Early Modern History and an internationally recognized academic and research record, which should be equivalent to the ‘habilitation’ for candidates seeking an appointment as full professor, and experience in teaching and supervising students at BA and MA level.
Their research expertise should cover more than one area and include an extra-European focus. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the activities of the Freiburg Institute of Renaissance and Early Modern Studies [Institut fribourgeois d’étude de la Renaissance et de l’époque modern/Freiburger Institut für die Erforschung der Renaissance und der Frühmoderne] and to participate in the academic self-governing bodies of the Humanities Faculty. The teaching language is German; in addition, good knowledge of French is required.
Start date is 1 February 2024.
Seeking to promote an equitable representation of women and men, the University strongly encourages applications from women. Having signed the DORA declaration, the University of
Fribourg emphasizes qualitative assessment of academic achievement.
